Warwick has been a keen adventurer and photographer for many years, exploring Australia’s many diverse landscapes from the ocean to the Alps, and snow-caves to river rapids. He’s worked in the Air Force as an Engineer and Adventure Training Leader, and has recently added photography to his areas of expertise. Warwick initially found photography allowed him to capture and share the experience of exploring the outdoors with friends, and this fuelled his photographic activities for a while. Recently he’s begun to apply himself to other photographic domains including portraiture, marketing and aerial photography. Warwick loves new technically challenging images and he loves photographing the subject from unusual perspectives. He has a keen eye for his surroundings and is often able to spot unexpected, creative image opportunities.
Warwick loves to travel and do on-location portraiture unencumbered by studio equipment, so his equipment choices reflect an ability to move with gear he can manage himself. He enjoys taking new perspectives that are best accessed by ropes or other ‘difficult-access’ equipment such as helicopters. He uses quality equipment such as Nikon DSLR cameras and a range of FX and DX lenses from fisheye to telephoto; Manfrotto professional tripods; Nodal Ninja Panoramic Tripod Heads; multiple Nikon SB900 flash units; Lastolite stands, soft-boxes, diffusers and reflectors; Sekonic light meters; RF triggers, Cokin filters; Lowepro camera bags; and lots of spare batteries! Warwick shoots in RAW file format and does most post-processing with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop; Photomatix Pro for High Dynamic Range (HDR) images; and PTGui Pro for panoramic image stitching. His colour management system includes monitor calibration and use of a professional printing lab in Melbourne with soft-proofing profiles to ensure quality printing results.
